Description
Add dependable power to a medium-sized commercial sound system with the TEXONIC RXD240 Class-D zone amplifier.
The RXD240 delivers 240W for a distributed 100V speaker system or 2 × 120W for compatible 8-ohm speakers. Its compact half-rack design, professional line-level connections and efficient Class-D operation make it suitable for restaurants, retail stores, offices, clinics, studios and other business audio installations.
A Balanced Choice for Medium Speaker Systems
The RXD240 fits between compact 120W amplifiers and larger 480W models. It provides useful power for projects that have outgrown a small amplifier but do not require a high-capacity commercial system.
It can power multiple compatible ceiling, wall-mount, pendant or surface speakers across one main business audio area when the total speaker load is calculated correctly.
Recommended Business Applications
- Restaurants and cafés
- Retail stores and showrooms
- Offices and staff areas
- Clinics and waiting rooms
- Salons and wellness studios
- Training and meeting rooms
- Small gyms and recreation spaces
- Dedicated commercial audio zones
Understanding the Zone Amplifier Design
100V operation: The amplifier powers one 240W commercial speaker zone. All connected speakers receive the same incoming audio program.
8-ohm operation: The amplifier provides two 120W low-impedance channels for a compatible stereo or two-channel speaker system.
The term “zone amplifier” refers to the area powered by the amplifier. The RXD240 does not include independent source selection or built-in multi-zone music control.
External Music Source Required
The RXD240 is a power amplifier. It does not include built-in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi streaming, USB playback, microphone mixing, FM radio or source selection.
Connect a compatible music streamer, mixer, preamplifier, television audio output or other line-level audio source.
240W 100V Commercial Speaker Output
The 100V mode is designed for commercial speaker systems using multiple transformer-equipped speakers and longer cable runs.
Compatible speakers are connected in parallel. Select the required 100V wattage tap on each speaker, then add all selected tap values together to calculate the total amplifier load.
Adjust Each Speaker for the Required Sound Level
Every speaker does not need to use the same transformer tap. The power setting can be selected according to the sound level required at each location.
- Use lower taps in offices, hallways and quiet waiting areas.
- Use medium taps for dining spaces, retail floors and reception areas.
- Use higher taps in larger rooms or areas with more background noise.
- Recalculate the total speaker load whenever a tap setting changes.
Speaker Load and 20% Amplifier Reserve
The total wattage of all selected speaker taps must remain below the RXD240 amplifier’s 240W rating. Maintaining approximately 20% unused capacity provides practical headroom for normal commercial operation.
Rated 100V output: 240W
Recommended 20% reserve: 48W
Recommended maximum speaker-tap load: Approximately 192W
Calculate the load using the selected transformer taps—not the maximum power rating printed on each speaker unless the maximum tap is actually being used.
Example 100V Speaker Loads
6 speakers at 15W: 90W total load
8 speakers at 15W: 120W total load
10 speakers at 15W: 150W total load
12 speakers at 15W: 180W total load
These examples remain below the recommended 192W load. Final speaker quantity and tap settings should be selected according to the speaker model, placement, room acoustics and required volume.
2 × 120W Output for 8-Ohm Speakers
In low-impedance mode, the RXD240 delivers up to 120W per channel into compatible 8-ohm speakers.
This option can be used for a stereo installation or two properly designed low-impedance speaker circuits. Confirm the impedance and power handling of the connected speakers before operation.
Important Output Selection
Select either the 100V output or the 8-ohm output before connecting the speaker system.
Do not use both output types at the same time. Confirm the output selector position, total speaker load and wiring before turning on the amplifier.
RCA and Balanced Audio Connections
Stereo RCA connectors provide a convenient unbalanced line-level input for compatible consumer and commercial audio sources.
A balanced Euroblock input is also provided for professional audio equipment and longer signal-cable runs where better resistance to electrical noise may be required.
Link Output for Additional Amplifiers
The balanced link output can pass the incoming audio signal to another compatible amplifier. This allows several amplifiers to share one music source while powering separate speaker zones or different sections of a larger facility.
Selectable 180Hz High-Pass Filter
The built-in high-pass filter reduces frequencies below approximately 180Hz before they reach the speakers.
This can improve clarity and reduce unnecessary low-frequency stress when the amplifier is used with compact ceiling speakers, wall speakers or paging speakers that are not designed for deep bass.
Front-Panel Level and Tone Controls
Frequently used adjustments are available from the front panel after the source equipment and speakers have been connected.
- Main input-level control
- Bass adjustment at 100Hz
- Treble adjustment at 10kHz
- Signal-presence indicator
- Clip-status indicator
- Protection-status indicator
- Power indicator and switch
Compact Half-Rack Installation
The compact chassis can be installed on a shelf, inside an equipment cabinet or in a professional AV rack using a compatible RXD Series mounting kit.
Optional mounting kits are available for installing one RXD amplifier or two compatible RXD amplifiers side by side in a standard 19-inch rack.
Protection for Commercial Operation
- Short-circuit protection
- Output-overload protection
- High-temperature protection
- Signal monitoring
- Clip and protection indicators
If the clip or protection indicator remains active, reduce the source level and check the speaker load, wiring and amplifier ventilation before continuing operation.
