Description

Power a large commercial speaker system from one compact audio control centre with the TEXONIC EX500D 500W mixer amplifier.

Designed for demanding background music and paging applications, the EX500D combines high-output Class-D amplification, built-in music playback, microphone mixing and commercial speaker connections in a slim 1U rack-mount chassis.

Built for High Speaker Counts

The 500W output provides the capacity needed for larger distributed audio systems using multiple ceiling, wall, pendant or paging speakers.

It is a strong choice when a smaller amplifier does not provide enough power, speaker capacity or operating headroom for the complete project.

Commercial Applications

  • Warehouses and distribution centres
  • Factories and production facilities
  • Large retail stores and showrooms
  • Schools and educational buildings
  • Gyms and recreation centres
  • Banquet halls and event facilities
  • Restaurants and hospitality spaces
  • Places of worship and public facilities
  • Commercial music and paging systems

One Shared Audio Program

The EX500D operates as a single-zone mixer amplifier. All speakers connected to the amplifier receive the same selected music, microphone announcement or paging signal.

Compatible commercial volume controls may be added for local volume adjustment. Independent music sources in different areas require a matrix or multi-zone amplifier.

Bluetooth and USB Music

Built-in Bluetooth allows staff to play background music wirelessly from a compatible smartphone, tablet or computer.

Music can also be played from a compatible USB storage device. The front media controls and supplied remote provide convenient access to everyday playback functions.

Three Microphone Inputs

Three microphone channels support front-desk paging, staff calls, customer announcements, presentations and facility communication.

  • MIC 1 and MIC 2 unbalanced inputs
  • MIC 3 balanced input
  • Individual microphone level controls
  • MIC 1 priority over background audio
  • Built-in pre-announcement chime
  • General alarm-tone function

Paging Priority for Important Messages

Priority control allows important announcements and alert tones to override normal background audio.

Priority order: Alarm → MIC 1 → MIC 2 / MIC 3 / AUX

When a higher-priority source is activated, lower-priority audio is reduced so the message can be heard more clearly throughout the speaker system.

Chime and General Alert Tones

The built-in chime can be played before a routine announcement to attract attention. An alarm tone is also available for general facility notifications.

These audio functions are intended for general commercial paging and alerts. The EX500D is not a certified fire-alarm or emergency voice evacuation system.

Two AUX Inputs for External Sources

Two AUX inputs accept compatible line-level equipment such as a network streamer, computer, media player, television, tuner or external audio receiver.

Separate input-level controls allow the microphone, AUX, Bluetooth and USB signals to be balanced before the final master volume is adjusted.

Line Output for System Expansion

The line-level output carries the complete mixed audio program to compatible external equipment. It may feed another commercial power amplifier, an audio processor or recording equipment when additional system capacity is required.

100V Commercial Speaker Systems

The EX500D is designed to operate compatible 100V commercial speakers across longer cable runs and larger installations.

Ceiling, wall, pendant and paging speakers with 100V transformer taps can be connected in parallel. Add together the selected wattage tap of every connected speaker.

The speaker tap settings do not need to be identical. Each setting may be selected according to the sound level required in that part of the facility.

Flexible Speaker Tap Selection

  • Use lower taps in offices, hallways, reception areas and quieter customer spaces.
  • Use higher taps in gyms, warehouses, production areas and other locations with more background noise.
  • Recalculate the combined speaker load whenever a tap setting is changed or another speaker is added.

Speaker Load and 20% Headroom

The total wattage of all connected 100V speaker taps must remain below the amplifier’s 500W rated output. Maintaining approximately 20% unused capacity is recommended for reliable commercial operation.

Rated amplifier output: 500W

Recommended 20% reserve: 100W

Recommended maximum speaker-tap load: Approximately 400W

The 400W recommendation applies to the total of all selected speaker taps. Do not calculate the load using the speakers’ maximum ratings unless those maximum tap settings are actually selected.

8–16Ω Low-Impedance Output

A separate 8–16Ω output is available for a correctly designed low-impedance speaker system. Confirm the combined speaker impedance, cable distance and power handling before selecting this connection.

Important Speaker Connection Notice

Use only one speaker output type for the complete system: either the 100V output or the 8–16Ω low-impedance output.

Do not operate both output types at the same time. Confirm the selected output, total speaker load, transformer taps and wiring polarity before switching on the amplifier.

Slim 1U Rack-Mount Design

The EX500D occupies only one space in a standard 19-inch equipment rack, helping preserve room for network streamers, microphones, processors and other commercial AV equipment.

Keep the ventilation openings clear and provide adequate airflow around the amplifier. Avoid placing heat-producing equipment directly against the chassis without suitable ventilation.

Protection and Status Monitoring

  • Short-circuit protection
  • Amplifier-overload protection
  • High-temperature protection
  • Power and signal indicators
  • Clip and protection indicators

A clip or protection indicator that remains active may indicate an excessive input level, overloaded speaker line, wiring fault or insufficient ventilation.
