Choose by Listening Setup

Start with What You Want Your Amplifier to Do

Power a simple pair of speakers, improve your TV sound, stream music in one or two rooms, or build a larger whole-home audio system. The right amplifier depends on the speakers, number of rooms and sources you want to use.

ONE ROOM

Stereo Music

For a pair of bookshelf, wall or ceiling speakers in a living room, bedroom, office or other single listening area.

Quick Buying Guide

Match the Amplifier to the Way You Listen

Your Goal Start With Check Before Buying
Music in one room 2-channel stereo or streaming amplifier Speaker impedance, power and music inputs
TV with passive speakers TV-friendly stereo / 2.1 amplifier HDMI ARC, optical input and subwoofer requirements
Music in two areas Dual-zone streaming amplifier Whether each zone needs separate volume or music
Several rooms Multi-channel / multi-zone amplifier Number of zones, speaker load and independent source needs
Speaker Compatibility
Check the Speaker Load Before Connecting

Home audio amplifiers are generally used with compatible low-impedance passive speakers. Always check the amplifier's minimum speaker impedance and the connected speaker load.

A commercial 70V or 100V speaker line requires an amplifier designed for that type of system. Do not connect a distributed 70V/100V speaker line to a standard low-impedance output.

Before You Choose

Three Details Make the Decision Much Easier

1. Your Speakers Know the speaker impedance, quantity and whether they are bookshelf, ceiling, wall or outdoor speakers.
2. Your Rooms Decide whether you need one listening area, two zones or several independently controlled rooms.
3. Your Sources Consider TV audio, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi streaming, AirPlay, external streamers or other connected sources.
