Premium Audio for Tight Ceiling Spaces
The DM2C-LP is designed for installations where a conventional commercial ceiling speaker may be too deep. Its integrated backcan is approximately 99mm or 3.9 inches deep, while the complete speaker has an overall depth of approximately 110mm or 4.3 inches.
The shallow enclosure makes the speaker useful for compact ceiling cavities, suspended ceilings, meeting rooms and renovation projects where ductwork, pipes or building structure reduce the available space.
Clear Full-Range Music and Speech
Each loudspeaker uses one custom Bose Professional 2.25-inch full-range driver. It is engineered for clear vocals, announcements and balanced low-level background music without requiring a separate tweeter.
The published frequency range is 85Hz–19kHz, making the DM2C-LP particularly suitable for speech, ambient music and general commercial audio in smaller or lower-ceiling spaces.
Best suited for: Background music, speech, meetings and general room audio.
For music systems requiring substantial deep bass or high-volume foreground performance, consider adding a compatible commercial subwoofer or selecting a larger DesignMax model.
Wide 150° Conical Coverage
The DM2C-LP provides wide 150-degree nominal conical coverage, helping distribute sound across the listening area from a compact ceiling location.
Wide coverage can be useful in offices, meeting rooms, retail spaces and hospitality areas where smooth background audio is more important than highly directional sound.
Recommended Commercial Applications
| Application | Typical Use |
|---|---|
| Office or Meeting Room | Speech, conferencing support and low-level background music |
| Retail Store | Customer-facing music and general announcements |
| Restaurant or Café | Comfortable dining-area music and staff communication |
| Hotel or Hospitality Area | Guest rooms, corridors, meeting areas and reception spaces |
| Clinic or Reception Area | Clear speech and unobtrusive background audio |
| Place of Worship | Supporting spaces, offices, classrooms and common areas |
70V and 100V Commercial Audio Compatibility
A built-in transformer allows the speakers to connect to compatible 70V or 100V commercial amplifiers. This makes it practical to operate several DM2C-LP speakers over longer cable distances.
In a distributed system, speakers are normally connected electrically in parallel. Add the selected transformer tap of every speaker to calculate the total amplifier load.
Selectable Transformer Taps
| Operating Mode | Available Settings Per Speaker |
|---|---|
| 70V | 1.2W / 2.3W / 4.5W / 9W |
| 100V | 2.3W / 4.5W / 9W |
| Transformer Bypass | 16Ω nominal impedance per speaker |
Select the tap setting before operating the system.
Do not use transformer bypass and a 70V or 100V connection at the same time. Low-impedance bypass wiring must be calculated separately.
Total Transformer Load for the Pair
| System | Tap Per Speaker | Pair Load |
|---|---|---|
| 70V | 1.2W | 2.4W |
| 70V or 100V | 2.3W | 4.6W |
| 70V or 100V | 4.5W | 9W |
| 70V or 100V | 9W | 18W |
Amplifier Headroom
For commercial system planning, keep approximately 20% of the amplifier’s output available as operating headroom. Divide the total speaker load by 0.8 to calculate the minimum planning capacity.
| Pair Load | Minimum Capacity with 20% Headroom |
|---|---|
| 2.4W | 3W or greater |
| 4.6W | 5.75W or greater |
| 9W | 11.25W or greater |
| 18W | 22.5W or greater |
Select the next practical commercial amplifier size above the calculated requirement. Include every additional speaker connected to the same amplifier when determining the final system load.
16Ω Transformer-Bypass Operation
The tap selector also provides a transformer-bypass position. In bypass mode, each DM2C-LP operates as a 16-ohm loudspeaker.
Low-impedance wiring must be designed according to the amplifier’s supported load and the series or parallel connection arrangement. Bypass-mode calculations are different from 70V and 100V transformer load calculations.
Front-Access Wiring and Loop-Through Connector
A front-mounted six-pin Euroblock connector provides input and loop-through terminals for continuing the speaker line to another loudspeaker.
Front access makes connection and troubleshooting easier after the speaker has been installed. The connector accepts approximately 18 AWG to 14 AWG speaker wire.
QuickHold Installation System
Two Bose QuickHold spring-loaded mounting arms secure each speaker to the ceiling. The mechanism is designed to reduce installation time and help prevent the mounting arms from damaging the ceiling or speaker.
Each loudspeaker also provides two safety-cable attachment points. Install the required safety cable and follow local building requirements for overhead loudspeaker installation.
Included Adjustable Tile Bridges
Two adjustable tile bridges are included with the pair. They help distribute the speaker weight across a suspended-ceiling grid instead of placing the complete load on one ceiling tile.
The tile bridges should be installed according to the Bose Professional instructions and the requirements of the ceiling system.
Plenum-Rated Integrated Backcan
The steel-formed backcan is integrated into the loudspeaker and is compliant with UL 2043 for plenum-space installation. The loudspeaker is also UL Listed and UL 1480A rated.
Always confirm Canadian building, electrical and fire-code requirements for the specific project. Product certification does not replace local approval or professional installation requirements.
Minimum-Bezel Magnetic Grilles
Each speaker includes a white, magnetically attached perforated-steel grille with a powder-coated finish and safety tether.
The grille is paintable, and the Bose logo can be rotated or removed. Follow the Bose Professional painting instructions and keep paint away from the acoustic openings and speaker components.
Current DM2C-LP loudspeaker pairs are supplied in white. Optional black replacement grilles are available separately for projects requiring a dark ceiling finish.
Ceiling Cutout and Installation Space
| Ceiling Cutout | 165mm / 6.5 in |

Important Connection Notice
Select the correct 70V, 100V or bypass setting before operating the amplifier.
Do not connect a speaker set to transformer bypass directly to a 70V or 100V amplifier output.
Do not mix 70V and 100V amplifier outputs on the same speaker line.
Keep speaker-line polarity consistent and confirm the complete load before switching on the system.
Switch off and disconnect the amplifier before installing speakers, changing wiring or adjusting the transformer taps.
