Description
240W Power for Commercial 70V or 8Ω Stereo Audio
The TEXONIC MC2120 is a two-channel Class-D power amplifier delivering 120W per channel for a total rated output of 240W. Each channel can operate a compatible 70V distributed speaker line or an 8-ohm low-impedance speaker load.
Its dual-channel design makes the MC2120 useful for commercial background music, system expansion, two-area audio and residential stereo installations where a separate mixer, preamplifier, streamer or audio processor is already being used.
One Amplifier, Three Practical Applications
Use each 120W channel to operate a separate 70V speaker line for restaurants, retail stores, offices, clinics, hospitality areas, training spaces and other commercial installations. Speaker tap loads are calculated separately for Channel 1 and Channel 2.
Connect compatible 8-ohm speakers as a conventional left-and-right stereo system, with one speaker load on each channel. This can work well for a dedicated music room, home audio system, large living area or other installation where a separate streamer or preamplifier provides source selection and volume control.
The balanced line inputs allow the MC2120 to function as a dedicated power stage behind a compatible audio matrix, mixer, DSP, paging controller or preamplifier when an existing system needs additional amplification.
Power Amplifier — Source Equipment Required
Connect a compatible mixer, preamplifier, network audio streamer, matrix processor or other line-level audio source. Consumer audio equipment may require the appropriate cable or line-level interface for connection to the MC2120 balanced Phoenix inputs.
Understanding the 240W Power Rating
The MC2120 is a two-channel amplifier. Its 240W total rating is divided between two independent 120W channels. It is not one single 240W speaker output.
| Channel | Rated Output | Speaker Options | Typical Application |
|---|---|---|---|
| Channel 1 | 120W | 70V or 8Ω | Area 1 / Left stereo channel |
| Channel 2 | 120W | 70V or 8Ω | Area 2 / Right stereo channel |
| Total | 240W | Two independent channels | Dual-area or stereo operation |
70V Speaker Load Guide
For a distributed 70V system, add the selected transformer tap of every speaker connected to each channel. AVTECK recommends maintaining approximately 20% amplifier reserve rather than loading a channel to its full rated capacity.
Channel 1: approximately 96W maximum speaker-tap load
Channel 2: approximately 96W maximum speaker-tap load
Combined recommended load: up to approximately 192W, provided neither individual channel exceeds approximately 96W.
Example: six 15W speakers = 90W on one channel, which remains within the recommended 96W transformer-tap load.
8Ω Stereo & Low-Impedance Operation
In low-impedance mode, the MC2120 provides up to 120W per channel into a compatible 8-ohm load. This allows Channel 1 and Channel 2 to function as left and right channels for a conventional stereo system.
Match the connected speaker impedance and power handling to the amplifier. Do not use the 70V and 8Ω outputs of the same amplifier channel at the same time.
Installer-Friendly Control & Protection
Balance the output level of the two amplifier channels when speaker loads or listening requirements are different.
Each channel includes a selectable filter for installations where deep bass is not required by the connected commercial speakers.
Helps reduce unnecessary operation when no suitable audio signal is detected.
Protection includes short circuit, overload, excessive temperature, clipping and DC fault monitoring.
